A Day Late and a Bonus – Happy New Year!

IMG_0818

Whoops. Sorry.  My Bad.  Had a busy Monday and was unable to get around to this.  So here is this week’s Fab 5 as well as a new photo gallery from the last show I attended before the new year (Winston Drei Tod at the Acadia on Sat December 20).  The boys of WDT had a lot of fun with the small show as they started their set out with a crowd sing-along to “Silent Night”.  They sprinkled one more holiday tune into their set, as they did a great cover of The Beach Boys’ “Little St. Nick”  Find the gallery here.

Only one change to the list this week as Gabrielle Aplin makes her debut with “Home” a beautiful track from her 2014 EP English Rain.  She knocks a giant off the list, as the boys from 1D once again fall off the list.  Their song “18” did, however, last three weeks, and thus has secured a place in the Hall of Fame.  James Bay hangs on for a record fifth week with “Hold Back The River.”  Celebrating week number three on the list are Bea Miller (“Young Blood”) and Andy Grammar (“Honey, I’m Good.”).  Hozier sticks around for a second week with “Someone New.”  Check out the new Fab 5 now!

Fab 5 Update (and the New HOF)

It’s the week of Christmas, so be merry.  Just one change in the Fab 5 Hitlist this week.  Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars finally exit after 4 weeks on the list.  But you can still find their hit “Uptown Funk” in the new Fab 5 Hall of Fame.  For any song lasting 2 or more weeks on the Fab 5, they never go away completely, but rather are relocated to the HOF playlist.

With “Funk” leaving, someone must take their place.  Hozier found worldwide fame with his song “Take Me To Church” over the past year.  He makes his debut on the Fab 5 with the song “Someone New”.

James Bay hangs in for a fourth week with “Hold Back The River”, and One Direction are in for week number three with “18”.  Bea Miller and Andy Grammer are on the list for week two with their songs “Young Blood” and “Honey, I’m Good.”  Check out the Fab 5 here.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been listening to a lot of Christmas music the past week, so head on over and check out my X-mas Jams playlist, and see what else I’ve been listening to.  Also, don’t forget the Play It Forward bonus playlist.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Finals Week Fab 5

Finals week is upon me and my fellow students and another Monday brings of course an update to the Fab 5 Hitlist.  For the first time since the week of November 3, the list is without Mr. Sam Smith, as his “Lay Me Down” bows out after 3 weeks ending a stretch of 6 weeks on the list.  Also leaving is Randy Houser’s “Like A Cowboy”, which spent the last two weeks on the list.

But of course, when someone leaves, someone must take its place.  The two new additions this week come from my Spotify-created Play It Forward list.  Bea Miller joins the ranks with “Young Blood”.  She is accompanied by Andy Grammer and his infectious “Honey, I’m Good.”

Hanging on for weeks four, three and two are Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars (“Uptown Funk”), James Bay (“Hold Back The River”) and One Direction (“18”).

Don’t forget the two bonus playlists, Favorite X-Mas Jams and Play It Forward.

The New Fab 5, plus some extras

The Fab 5 Hitlist has been updated.  Not too much change this week as 4 songs carry over from last week.  Sam Smith stays on for week number three with “Lay Me Down, as do Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson with their hit “Uptown Funk.”  Randy Houser and James Bay hang in for a second week with their songs “Like a Cowboy” and “Hold Back The River.”  Returning to the list this week are the undeniable boys from One Direction.  Their song “18” hits the list as Winston Drei Tod’s “You Are What I’m Needing” falls after just one week.

Check out the list here.

Also, Spotify just released their year in review, and allows its users to have their own Play It Forward list created based on their listening tendencies in 2014.  The list will include songs that Spotify thinks you will enjoy.  My list is here.

Don’t forget the Christmas Bonus Playlist.

All New Fab 5

The Fab 5 Hit List has been updated for your listening pleasure.  Perhaps I should’ve titled it “Girl Crazy” with 4 of the 5 songs including girl in their titles.

Go check it out.

Sorry, No T-Swift.  Not my decision.

The infectious stylings of One Direction keep it in the mix with “Steal My Girl”, while Little Big Town also carry over from last week with “Girl Crush”  I’m totally digging the new Sam Smith single, “I’m Not The Only One” as well as “God Made Girls” from The Voice contestant Raelynn.  Rounding out the list this week is a little known song from Texas troubadour Pat Green titled “Girls From Texas.” Three lines into the song I knew I was gonna love it as Mr. Green gives a shout out to the “Minnesota gals” for feeling “like a sweater.”
